QUESTION & ANSWER:
Q: Does it cost anything to enter the pageant?
A: No, There are no entry fees for competing. There is a $25.00 commitment
fee which you receive back on dress rehearsal night. Also, there may be a costume fee depending on the pageant theme,
but it would not be more than $35.00 and you keep the costume.
Q: What type of clothes do I need for the competition.
A: In most cases, you may have them in your closet. It is not the
most expensive outfit that will win the title, it's the person. You will need the following:
-
Physical Fitness in Swimwear (must be approved by the pageant
board, there are a few rules regarding these)
-
Talent Outfit - whatever you feel necessary to perform your talent
-
Evening Wear - This is something you would wear for a formal night
out on the town.
-
Interview Outfit - This is can be a suit, dress or pants outfit, whatever
you would wear for a job interview. This is your first meeting with the judges so first impressions could be lasting!
-
Opening Number Outfit - This will either be determined for you depending
on the theme of the pageant, or it might be something you have at home such as blouses and jeans or black dresses, etc.
Q: What is the Time limit on Talent?
A: 2 Minutes
Q: What kind of commitment do I make if I compete and/or win the Title?
A: We have 2 rehearsals on the Sundays preceding the Pageant date
of and one Dress rehearsal on the Friday evening before the pageant. At these rehearsals we take the time to work on
walking in Physical Fitness and Eveningwear, we set up Mock Interviews with qualified judges, and we give you the time to
work on your Talent. There will be an opening and closing number that we have rehearsals for, but they are easily learned.
We don't require the contestants to learn hard routines, we want you to concentrate your efforts on the competition itself.
Rehearsals are not mandatory with the exception of the Dress Rehearsal, however, we feel strongly about you attending so that
we can help you prepare for every area of competition appropriately.
There is also a get together on one of the Sunday rehearsals with the Little Sister you
will be assigned to for the pageant.
After you become Miss Omaha or Miss Douglas County, you will be required to make some
appearances and we will work with you on preparation for the State pageant in June. This should not affect your
school in any way, because as you know, the Miss America Organization is a Scholarship Pageant, and we understand the
importance of you concentrating on being a student first.
